My dream of my own Strength & Conditioning Studio in Basel

It has always been my dream to create a studio where members and clients can fully focus on their training. With a lot of hard work and passion, I've succeeded in establishing strength training in some of the best and most successful personal training and health studios in Basel, such as Corposana Training & Therapy Studios, Dynamic Sports Basel , and Yourtrainer AG . But I wanted more: a place dedicated to strength and conditioning that simultaneously serves as a learning center, coaching space, and meeting place for ambitious athletes. This is precisely what Squat School Basel by JFP was born out of .

The Squat School isn't your typical gym in Basel . Here, you don't just exercise; you train effectively – with the best trainers in Switzerland, a clear structure, and a philosophy that makes training what it should be: goal-oriented, measurable, and sustainable.

From group lessons to Squat School Basel

The name "Squat School" originally came from the Löwenblut fitness studio in Kleinbasel , where I led a group class many years ago. Demand was so high that we regularly had to maintain waiting lists. The name stuck in my mind – and the idea of ​​one day turning it into my own project never left me.

When the opportunity arose to find a suitable location, it was clear: this would be the place for Strength & Conditioning Basel , personal training , and athletic training . The name "Squat School" combines all these aspects and reflects the essence of our training approach.

Why the squat is the focus

The squat is one of the most important exercises of all—for athletes , recreational athletes , and beginners . It engages the shoulder joints, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, hips, knees, and ankles in a single movement. It increases maximum strength , flexibility, and intermuscular coordination.


Strong legs form the foundation of every athletic performance . A correctly learned squat reduces the risk of back pain, knee pain, or other problems resulting from a lack of strength and stability. At the same time, it's a benchmark for athletic performance—one-third of powerlifting disciplines consist of squats, and explosive and speed strength also build directly on them.


Unfortunately, the squat is still taught incorrectly or incompletely. Even in 2025, many trainees aren't learning the movement correctly. Therefore, our motto is: Anyone who comes to a good coach or personal trainer in Basel must learn the squat cleanly and with a relevant load. Because those who are strong in squats also become faster, more explosive, and more resilient.

The mission of the Squat School Basel

Many athletes focus too much on the final details instead of consistently mastering the basics : pull-ups, bench presses, overhead presses, deadlifts—and especially squats. The Squat School Basel brings these fundamental principles back to the center of training.
