Zahlen statt Vermutungen. Das ist der ganze Unterschied.
Häufige Fragen
Was kostet der Analyse-Termin?
Nichts.
Was soll ich mitbringen?
Trainingsschuhe, ein Handtuch, zehn Minuten Zeit zum Ankommen. Vorher füllst du ein kurzes Gesundheitsformular aus.
Wie oft wird nachgemessen?
Alle vier Wochen, dieselben Tests, dieselben Zahlen. So siehst du schwarz auf weiss, ob dein Training wirkt.

Getting started · 5-minute read
Most people don't know where they stand. They know how they feel – and feeling is a poor guide when it comes to training. The assessment replaces guesswork with numbers: 30 minutes on site, three measurements, one clear result.
Why we measure before we plan
A training plan that doesn't fit your starting point is a random programme. Two people with the same goal rarely need the same plan – because they start in different places. Whoever doesn't measure that, guesses. And whoever guesses loses months.
That is why no collaboration at Squat School Basel begins without an assessment. It is free, takes 30 minutes and comes after the strategy call – once we already know where you want to go.
Measurement 1: body composition by caliper
The scale tells you what you weigh. It doesn't tell you what you're made of. The caliper measures skinfold thickness at defined points and from that your body-fat percentage – and, more importantly, its distribution. Where fat sits says more about sleep, stress and nutrition than the total.
The result is a number that can be measured again in four weeks. Not «I feel tighter», but two millimetres less at the same spot.
Measurement 2: grip strength with a hand dynamometer
Grip strength is one of the best-documented markers of overall strength and resilience – especially from 40 onwards. The test takes ten seconds per hand: squeeze as hard as you can, read the value. The difference between left and right is often more revealing than the absolute number.
A low value is not a verdict. It is a hint where the chain is weak – and therefore what comes first in training.
Measurement 3: strength tests on the fundamental patterns
A hang from the pull-up bar, then selected compound lifts – each with regressions so every test matches your level. No one-rep max: the risk is out of proportion to the benefit. We see where strength is missing and where movement quality is, and whether left and right perform the same.
The hang alone reveals a lot: shoulder stability, grip, trunk. If you can't hang calmly, pull-ups aren't on the table yet – and that is valuable information, not an embarrassment.
The result: your level – or an honest redirect
From the three measurements we know which level your programme starts at and what takes priority in the first twelve weeks. For most people over 35 that means: white belt, structural balance, before load.
And sometimes the result is: not with us yet. If the assessment shows pain under load or a weakness that stands out, we send you to physiotherapy or a doctor – before we train. That is not a rejection. That is the reason the assessment exists at all.
Numbers instead of guesses. That is the whole difference.
Frequently asked questions
What does the assessment cost?
Nothing. It is part of the intake process and follows the free strategy call.
Do I need to be fit for the tests?
No. Every test has a variation for your level. If you haven't trained in a long time, that is exactly when the assessment is most valuable.
What should I bring?
Training shoes, a towel, ten minutes to arrive. Beforehand you fill in a short health questionnaire.
How often do you re-measure?
Every four weeks, same tests, same numbers. So you see in black and white whether your training works.
