Finanzen, Marketing, Werbung, Rhetorik, Biomechanik, Rehabilitation, Programmdesign, Videografie, Fotografie, Webdesign, Buchhaltung. Alles gleichzeitig, alles allein, alles ohne Vorlage.
Was Coaching sein könnte

JFP Academy · 6-minute read
When I talk to fellow trainers about their hourly rates today, many can't believe it when I say I no longer have one. And when I ask how many hours a week they work, the answer is usually a number that isn't a business model but a countdown. That's exactly why the JFP Academy exists.
The trainer at 18 – and the coach at 30
When I started at 18, I had lots of time and little money. I researched for hours, tried everything, trained with friends and earned my first 20 francs per person per session doing it. It was the right model for that stage of life.
Most coaches I meet today are in exactly the same situation – except they're no longer 18. Instead of being interested in training, they suddenly have to be interested in entrepreneurship. Finance, marketing, advertising, rhetoric, biomechanics, rehabilitation, programme design, videography, photography, web design, bookkeeping. All at once, all alone, all without a template.
I often see what comes of it: they earn decently but work 200 percent. They depend on dancing on social media and building viral hooks. And they work with people who aren't even willing to change their lives for their health – because the marketing filters nobody out.
Fully booked is not a business model
That's the sentence I say to every trainer who proudly tells me they're full. Fully booked means: every extra hour you want to earn, you have to work. And every hour you're ill, on holiday or simply unavailable is an hour without income. That's not a business. That's a job without an employer.
The hourly rate is the problem, not the solution. It rewards the slow route: the longer the client takes, the more you earn. That's the opposite of what a good coach wants.
What coaching could be
Coaching with a system is something I see extremely rarely. Every ambitious trainer calls himself a coach, but the market decides who is one – and the returns many can show are thin. Not because they're bad. Because nobody showed them how the step from trainer to coach really works.
Yet coaching could be the second-to-last station for every good personal trainer: more income, fewer hours with the client, better results – and client acquisition that depends on clarity, not on the algorithm. The last station is then training others.
I walked this path from zero. Not because being a coach is fashionable, but because over almost twenty years I made every step myself: fitness, small group, personal training, coaching, education. The system that came out of it is the same one I use today to train physiotherapists at CorpoSana.
What the JFP Academy is
Since opening Squat School Basel I have real motivation again to give more coaching, train coaches and mentor them individually. That's how the JFP Academy came about – with two formats:
- 1:1 mentoring for coaches and therapists who want to move from the hourly rate to a system: programme design, client management, positioning, pricing structure. Not theory, but what I apply myself.
- Seminars and workshops for gyms and practices: the JFP training system, the belt system, the assessment, strength training after the rehab phase – for teams that want a shared line.
Mentoring places are limited because I coach myself and don't delegate. Anyone interested goes on a waiting list – and we talk first about whether it fits.
I have never taught theory. I teach what I do myself every day.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the mentoring for?
For personal trainers, coaches and physiotherapists who already have clients and want to make the step from hourly rate to system. Not for beginners without practice.
What makes the JFP Academy different from a fitness qualification?
A qualification gives you knowledge. The Academy gives you a system you can apply on Monday – with my templates, my measurements, my pricing logic. And it answers the question no qualification asks: how do you go from trainer to entrepreneur without working 200 percent?
How does an enquiry work?
Via the Academy page on WhatsApp, with two sentences about you and your situation. I get back to you, and we clarify in a call whether mentoring or a seminar fits.
Is the Academy available online?
Mentoring yes, by video call. Seminars take place in person – at Squat School Basel or at your gym.
Next step
You're a trainer or therapist and want more than selling hours?
Write to me via the Academy page – who you are and where you stand. We clarify in a call whether 1:1 mentoring or a seminar for your team is the right path.
